Converting Research to Practice
The Bastrop County Early Childhood Coalition had a hunch about needs in their community, but lacked data to back up their work. Cathy was recruited to complete an intense research project, synthesizing a vast array of data into an actionable plan.
Over 9 months, she:
-
Conducted focus groups and surveyed parents and caregivers
-
Surveyed and met with service providers
-
Gathered quantitative data on children’s health, safety, and school readiness
-
Converted programmatic data into an early childhood continuum
-
Created an inventory of effective early childhood programs and system changes
-
Synthesized all data into prioritized action items
Major trends, needs, and opportunities were summarized in the Bastrop County Roadmap, 120+ pages of research culminated in 10 practical recommendations to improve childhood outcomes. The Coalition is now implementing many of those ideas to change the health, safety, and school readiness of thousands of children.
The work you did informs how we look at the data and make decisions and how we prioritize moving forward.
